CHARACTER INFO
❥ Name: Nyx Ulric
❥ Canon: Final Fantasy XV: Kingsglaive
❥ Canon Point: post-Kingsglaive, after he dies
❥ History: Wiki!
❥ CRAU?: N/A
❥ Personality:
» » Brave. Honorable. Loyal. Perhaps to a fault, in that he will disobey a direct order in order to save a friend. He also doesn't like people talking shit about the crown.
» » Guilt. He carries a lot of it, always. Although he had been just a child when his younger sister had passed, he blames his own inadequacy for her demise when Nifilheim invaded Galahd. Within the course of the movie, he has flashbacks and inopportune moments back to her final moments. They come unbidden, but he overcomes them, and lets no one know he has them. Within his apartment there is a small incense burner and picture of his sister (and mother, presumably), for which he lights incense in honor of them. However, these intrusive visions he has of them, while indeed a symptom of his unresolved trauma, are not debilitating: when they occur even during peaceful moments, he hardly even winces when he has them, and he does not act out in fear, anger, or stress. It seems to be just that: they come and go. These flashbacks are something that also keep him tempered, like an unpleasant reminder that this terrible thing happened, and yet...
He's optimistic of the world and the future. Like a double edged sword, he appears to use the memory of his sister as a reminder that, although he has lost much, both family and his (1st) home, there are those who haven't.
» » A terrible consoler. Honestly, this man doesn't know even how to offer a few words of comfort to his best friend, Libertus, when his adoptive sister Crowe was found dead. In anger Libertus abandons the Kingsglaive, while Nyx clumsily attempts to suggest that he honor her by continuing to fight. This is something Nyx does for his own deceased family and lost home, for so long as he continues to fight, he supports their memory. That this same reasoning does not work for Libertus: he mentions fighting for Crowe and the Kingsglaive at the wrong time, and it pushes his friend away. Why this makes Libertus more upset doesn't seem to click for Nyx, at least not at that time. Nyx looks to the future, because this is what helps him continue.
» » Resilient. As mentioned before, Nyx has gotten the short end of the stick. But he pushes through and never once shown to crumble. Become frustrated, yes, or have moments of vulnerability or double over in pain, but he does not give into despair.
» » Confident. Nyx has a healthy dose of ego, especially in regards to his skills in battle, and he has enough confidence in his skills to be sassy or throw out a quip in the midst of a fight or a high-strung situation. He was hailed as a "hero", and he'll play up that card to have others believe that he can handle the situation.
» » In the movie, Nyx lives alone. He also speaks up little when he's among his peers. While he still has no trouble socializing among a group of people or friends, he appears to be perfectly at ease while being alone.
» » Nyx keeps most thoughts to himself. Even should someone attempt to provoke or harass him, he maintains a stoic face. Nyx knows his place isn't to share his thoughts. They're inconsequential to his duty. However there are exceptions, reasons for which his control does break. During the movie he has a grand total of two major outbursts where he questions the authority before him, one with Regis, and one with the Kings of Yore. Both times, he backs down and comes to a new resolution because of what Lunafreya and the Kings say to him. So while he can be emotional at times, he easily caps it and draws in, coming back with a stronger resolve than before. Pointing out the bigger picture speaks to him in a way that possibly surprised even himself, but once he accepted it, he embraced it fully within the span of minutes-- by willingly forfeiting his life. That is how important the future, world, dawn, or whathaveyou, is to him, and he doesn't believe his conclusion or his death is something to be pitied (although he would draw some comfort if someone kept him in their thoughts).
❥ Abilities:
» » Combatant. He is proficient in the use of kukri, two dagger-like weapons. Should he lose or break them, he's down to brawl.
» » Magic. While he is taken post-canon and thus will not have any magic or elemancy of which to speak, in canon does show him to be highly proficient in Lucian magic and warping mechanics.
» » Athletic. He can run, leap, jump, hop, skip, flip, dance, do just about anything a soldier-ninja-parkourer can do. He also can take a beating and some bullets and still talk, breathe, and throw shade.
» » Driver/pilot. In the movie, he can drive a car at high speeds and pilot a dropship! I'm assuming he knows his way around engines, or at least knowing how to steer things. Also, he ain't afraid of heights.
❥ Extras: Would you like your characters abilities nerfed? What would you like them to lose or how will it be cut down? No thanks! Right now he's just an ordinary human.
Did your character bring anything along (limit 3 items) with them?
The clothes in which he died. Aka his uniform.
Which god will they choose to support? Diacht, please!
